Political Cartoons in the Time of Trump – Oct. 24

It’s an election year. Need a break from the tension? This might just be what you need! Join us for a rollicking discussion: Political Cartoons in the Time of Trump. Laugh, smile, cringe and/or cry as the Sentinel’s Scott Maxwell moderates a back-and-forth between two smart cartoonists who come at the world from the right and the left: Dana Summers, with Tribune Media including the Orlando Sentinel since 1982; and Andy Marlette, with the Pensacola News Journal since 2007.

The event will include live drawing demonstrations with answers to such questions as:
* What subject(s) always inspire responses from readers?
* What cartoon topics have been rejected by your editors?
* What has been your most controversial piece? Most lauded?
* Has technology helped/hindered the cartoonists’ craft?
* Has being a celebrity cartoonist ever gotten you out of a speeding ticket — or increased the fine? Let’s discuss.

We’ll also auction off original cartoons by both artists.
