FPA Weekly Newspaper Contest opens Dec. 16

The 2020 Florida Press Association Weekly Newspaper Contest will open on Monday, December 16, 2019. Get a head start and begin gathering your entries today! The contest will close at 11:59 pm on Monday, February 3, 2020.

Complete contest information including rules, categories, and entry instructions can be found at FloridaMediaContests.com.

Here are some important things you need to know about this year’s contest:

New Category!

Page Design
This category is designed to recognize the graphic design and layout of any particular page, excluding front page. Judges will be looking for a visually well-designed and compelling newspaper page(s). Attention will be given to overall effectiveness, use of graphics including typography, use of photography, line art, and overall presentation. No need for just the reporters to get all the credit. This is a way to spotlight your graphic artist.

Read all category descriptions here.

The contest is open to all Florida Press Association monthly, semi-monthly, weekly, semi-weekly and tri-weekly newspaper members in good standing, whose 2020 dues are current by the date of contest entry and were FPA members in 2019. Entries may not be submitted from sister publications unless they are also members of FPA. All contest entries must be the sole work of the newspaper staff and/or regular contributors.

Complete contest information including rules, category descriptions, and entry instructions is posted on FloridaMediaContests.com.

Awards will be presented during the 2020 Florida Media Conference being held July 23 & 24 at The Westin Sarasota. For full conference details visit FloridaMediaConference.com.
